Is anyone else using Safari's Web Inspector? This is fantastic! If I had this at work (where I'm stuck with Windows and IE), I could save so much time!

Web Inspector is enabled if you have your Debug menu turned on. This can be set in Terminal by typing...

Or to enable Web Inspector without the Debug menu, use...

These settings can be reversed by respectively substituting 0 and false at the end.

(By the way, I love the new version of Safari -- especially the resizable text boxes (like the one I'm typing in now) and the highlighted "find" function.)

Is it company policy that you only use IE at work?

If not, Firefox has the same tools, and I suspect that Safari for Windows should have the same tools.

It sure is. And "locked down" versions at that. (Can't turn on script debugging, for example.) Beyond that, we're prohibited from installing anything that's not "approved." (Our legal department nixed the free version of VM Ware because VM Ware would not sign an 18-page amendment assuming "unlimited liability." Gee, what a surprise. )

I do happen to have admin rights on my machine (which I would lose if Site Security found out), but I was not able to install Safari.

I found the DOM Inspector in Firefox under the Tools menu, but it's not very impressive.

So I suppose downloading Firebug for Firefox is out of the question.

Officially, yes, but I might try it. Otherwise, there's someone in desktop support that's sympathetic, so maybe I'll talk to him about what I could do. (He's the one that left me with admin rights on my machine.) Meanwhile, I'll need to push for getting something through the red tape.

Edit: I just installed Firebug on my iMac, and it looks pretty cool. (Not as pretty as Web Inspector, of course, but it looks like it would do the job. )

Does FF have resizable text boxes? I'd love to know how to get that working.

[Edit]
Nevermind, got off my lazy butt and found the add-on for that. Nice.
