I'm hoping that somebody will have some idea as to what I'm doing wrong or not doing here. I have a mac that is running os 10.4.10, I have all that can be found on the net and at apple for java. I have yet to be able write a single program in java, I was told to use text editor for writting the codes, but nothing happens, and when run on safari, all you get is the codes just as written in the text editor. What am I doing or not doing. I'm trying to make a 2D game.

Hi,

Welcome to JavaRanch!

OK, so, first things first. Your machine should already have JDK 1.4 and/or 1.5 set up. Open Terminal.app, and at the prompt type

java -version

What do you see? How about if you type

javac -J-version
