Our client's Operations team needs a systems developer who can support existing applications as well as be part of a team that will provide new and innovative solutions that support the business. The team works closely with the business to help improve utility for end users, reduce the risk of errors and increase the efficiency of business users in a dependable, easy to use environment. We are looking for either a strong candidate who is proficient in JAVA and/or Visual Basic The candidate should also have very good Database skills. Currently, client is involved in trading Equities (both US and Non-US), and Fixed Income. All the US equities are traded through BRASS systems, and ITG. Non US equities trades are done through CITI. Fixed Income Trades are done through Bloomberg TOMS interacting with ECNs like MarketAxess and TradeWeb. All these trades are settled through BEAR Stearns. Most of the work involved in this team is Trading and Operations Work. On the Operations side we have two Applications written in Visual Basic, interacting with Sybase database. These applications process the trades, and output data to settle trades with BEAR Stearns, and generate corresponding reports using Crystal Reports and Active Reports. On trading side, Equities' systems are supported by other internal teams. Fixed Income Trading is done through Bloomberg, but all the interaction with ECNs and is provided through Applications that are run on the client Application Server. Some of these applications are 3rd party software, and the other internal applications are developed in Visual Basic, and Java.
Key Job Responsibilities
Provide troubleshooting and support for systems and process (both internal and external) as well as providing technical guidance for our business users.
Work with development team to create quality software and adhere to all technical architecture requirements.
Actively manage relationships with technical and business owners.
Work with business owners to understand systems requirements, design and write code that supports the business processes, and provide clear documentation.
Develop N-tier architecture based solutions.
Manage multiple streams of work simultaneously.
Collaborate with IT and Business teams both internal and external.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelors or Higher degree in Computer Science or Engineering (with programming)
2-4 years of Microsoft Visual Basic coding (UI, COM/DCOM experience)
1-2 years JAVA coding applying Object Oriented Architecture.
1-2 years SQL experience (MS SQL Server or Sybase, Sybase preferred)
1-2 years financial industry experience. Exposure to FIX protocol is desired.
1-2 years Crystal Reports or Active Reports
1-2 years CVS Usage
1-2 years Messaging
Financial knowledge and interest required.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills coupled with attention to detail
Dedicated, Accountable, teamwork-oriented, communication and time management abilities a must
