Get the height of a css class

i have a css class define in the head as maybe .menuHeader
In my javascript function I need to get the actual pixel height on the browser.
How would one suggest that?

this with the same limitations ( not possible in e.g. Netscape 4.7 ) Bear wrote in the jsp-forum yesterday

I don't know what you are trying, but your questions lead to the conclusion that it's a rather uncommon approach
