I am trying to make a menu that goes across the top of a screen, has sub-menus, and (hopefully, but not required) can be visible across frames. I've searched the web but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. I've put together parts of it, but my "expertise" is not quite enough to design this on my own. Does anyone know of a "free" script that does what I'm looking for?
Many thanks.

Hi Elaine,
You can use Macromedia Fireworks MX to create javascript menus using the mm_menu.js.
It's quite simple:
1. Create the menu bar image
2. Import the image to fireworks
3. Create hotspots rightly with your needs
4. Add pop-ups menu to each hotspot and configure them through the wizard
5. Export to HTML
Well, that's it!

Hmmm... I cannot seem to make it work over frames - has anyone used this successfully?
Thanks

It won't work across frames because the menu is a floating div in the framed window.
You might want to investigate a conversion to iframes rather than a frameset. That way there's a parent window that can contain the floating divs for the menus with a z-order that makes them float over the iframes.
hth,
bear

Elaine,
Goto http://www.codingforums.com
Sign up there and post the question in the Dynamic Drive Forum (sub forum under JavaScript). People there ask questions there about the menu there and they will be able to help out better then me on this script since I never really used it.
Hope this helps
Eric
