Popup window question

Hi All,
I need to pass a array of values from the popup window to the parent page when I click on a number of checkboxes in the popup window.How to go about this?But,the condition is that while passing the values to the parent page,the old values in the parent page should remain intact.Please suggest a solution for this.A example would be much better.Thanks in advance.

What old values in the parent page need to remain intact? Do you need to remember what used to be checked compared to what is checked now in the popup?
