hi, can someone guide how to call function to make the textfield readonly ?

i try

function a()
{
document.form.text1.readonly = true;
}

it doesn't work

This is almost never a complete description of an error condition. What exactly are you doing, and what is (not) happening?
Is the function being called? Is document.form.text1 a valid form element?
What does your form HTML and JavaScript look like?

i think you ned to provide the value in double quotes

.readonly="true"

It needs to be: readOnly. The quotes really do not matter.
