nsIAutoCompletePopup Error in Firefox while calling Javascript focus()

Has anyone else run into this when calling document.getElementById("xxx").focus()?
try/catch blocks don't seem to catch it.

Other than the error showing up in the JS console, it's not stopping anything from working.
