Benefits of Ajax:

1) Moves away from the "spaghetti" coding model where client and server logic is intermingled.
2) Provides a clean separation between client and server.
3) Allows Web GUI developers to focus on the GUI (HTML pages, and JavaScript), and server side coders to focus on providing resources (Web Services). This aspect makes each person's job much easier!
4) Fits perfectly into a SOA architecture
5) Web applications feels and behaves like a traditional GUI application

Being an Internet and Web Services Geek I like Ajax because it brings order to my Web Applications.

Downside: I feel many Server frameworks don't implement REST (Web Services) properly and you will either need to download my sources, or write your own.
