Summary



You will be responsible for leading a team of 2-4 senior software engineers and providing technical expertise
in the design and implementation of core spend and sourcing solutions. You will be working with
marketing and professional services to gather requirements, write specifications, and develop project plans.


You must be highly intelligent and have great problem solving skills and incredible development acumen.
You must be driven to solve business and technical problems through great software solutions. You should be
passionate about solving problems and business needs and immediately pull from experience to discover the
most appropriate solution, architecture, design, and implementation to satisfy those needs. You must
understand business issues and be able to associate the requirements and objectives of a solution with
how it will be used within a J2EE Server Platform


Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead high-level designs: identifying reuse, frameworks, interfaces and third-party components


  • Identify and mitigate performance and security exposures

  • Map logical architectures to resources necessary to implement them in the physical architecture


  • Review detailed design of components/modules


  • Help establish technology standards and ensure cross-product technology and design compliance


  • Provide coaching and mentoring to developers on architecture, frameworks, and best development practices


  • Participate in training the development team


  • Identify and evaluate any development tools that would make our processes and developers more efficient


  • Identify and evaluate technologies which would enhance our product


  • Prototype technically challenging solutions and ensure an effective hand-off to product development


  • Work with QA to identify technologies to make the QA process more effective and efficient


  • Work with Product Management on assessing technical feasibility/approach and provide input on product specifications




  • Required Background/Experience
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field


  • 10+ years in a software development role

  • 7+ of those years must have been in a technical leadership role


  • Understanding of software design and implementation practices and tools


  • Experience dealing directly with partners and customers


  • Exposure to the entire Software Development Life Cycle


  • Proficient with using UML to model software designs


  • Extensive Object-Oriented Design and Architecture, Web and GUI/UI, multi-tiered development, and distributed systems experience in recent software development projects


  • Extensive HTML/DHTML JavaScript, JSP, Java, and Servlet experience


  • Prior EJB work experience. You must have been exposed to session and entity beans and understand bean and container-managed persistence


  • Knowledge and use of an ORM technology, preferably Oracle�s Toplink or iBATIS


  • SQL/RDBMS experience


  • DOM and SAX XML-parser experience


  • Knowledge and use of web server technologies, preferably MS IIS, Apache, and Netscape


  • Knowledge and use of a servlet engine technology, preferably Allaire�s JRUN and BEA�s Weblogic


  • Knowledge and use of an application server technology and its tools, preferably BEA�s Weblogic and IBM's Websphere


  • Extensive experience using a J2EE framework that econmpasses all tiers, preferably Spring
