Summary

As a Lead J2EE Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a development team that supports GPS applications including Daily Performance, Composites, Attribution, and Benchmark Maintenance systems. In this role, this individual assists project managers in planning and technical direction of projects. You will work with colleagues and end users to design, architect, and implement product solutions to meet business requirements. You will assist your development manager in establishing priorities, technical assignments, and occasionally, some supervisory tasks.

You will be part of a 12-member team, and one of your responsibilities will be to interact with the offshore development team. This role is 30% design/architecture and 70% leading and coordinating consultants activities both local and offshore.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Estimates engineering effort, and plans implementation and rollout of system changes
  • Acts as a team leader on projects including distribution and review of work and coordination of activities
  • Hands-on system architecture, technical design and delivery of solutions
  • Ensure that product architecture and internal practices are understood and followed by other team members
  • Manage offshore development and work with outsourcing vendors
  • Reviews, comments and makes suggestions on specifications written by other system analysts
  • Team management responsibilities, including the direct supervision of approximately 5-6 software engineers (consultants)

  • Required Background/Experience
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years in an enterprise software development role
  • 5+ solid years of OOAD experience
  • 3+ years experience developing complex n-tiered architectures
  • At least 5 years of software development experience on the J2EE platform
  • 5+ years of relational database programming experience
  • 2+ years of experience developing software on the web-client tier, including JSP, Servlets, and Struts
  • You must have demonstrated experience leading a team of developers
  • Proficiency with Agile Project Management techniques, Unified Process, UML, Model-Driven Architectures, and Use Case notations


  • Major Pluses to have
  • Financial services domain experience
  • C or C++ experience would be helpful
  • Experience with Oracle, especially PL/SQL development
