Can anyone suggest me on getting started with ajax and to interact with database using ajax.

10 week AJAX tutorial

From what little I know about AJAX, it is more a presentation technology (the View in MVC (model 2) archetecture). You will still need a servlet (or something) on the server side to interact with the database.

Ajax is a browser technology that allows you to make requests back to the server under Javascript control without having to perform a page submit.

Once on the server, you need to handle the request just as you would any other with server-side technology.
