Hi,
I am currently working to develop a browser based "search and list" screen(s)/page(s) and will greatly appreciate help/pointers to do the same.

Statement of problem:
---------------------
I have a data as text files (can be in XML format) which I want to display in a browser based page/screen. Also I want to add to this page capability to search and to display the filtered data (from the data file).

Additionally I would also like to add capability to save the 'search' criteria.

I believe this could be done simply using HTML/JavaScript and would like to avoid using any server as such. Data files will be generated asynchronously. It would great help if you can provide me any pointers/sample code which I can use to develop my idea.

Thanks
Ashish

JavaScript is very slow at filtering data. SO if it is a lot of data, it will seem to freeze a person's computer.

Eric,
Data is not going to be much. May be 500-1000 rows of data. Performance will not be the main consideration.

Would you suggest a better alternative?

Thanks

This sort of thing is best done on the server, by far. Why are you trying to avoid a server-side solution?

Hi Bear, Thanks for taking interest.
I need to slice, dice, analyze and compare data and I wish to do that off line. For this reason I was trying to find a solution which can be done without any server etc.

Thanks
Ashish

If you are off-line, how is the data going to get to the page in the first place?

Is there any chance of running a local server to process the data while disconnected?
