I agree, Ajax in Action is a great book to learn what Ajax is all about.

i think this blog has some good very basic Ajax tutorial. it really helped to get started with Ajax few months ago.

Ajax in Action is pretty lengthy.., if you want something concise and at the same time comprehensive, I would suggest, Pragmatic Ajax. Its a nice book..
