I have a few hundred lines of javascript. As I run the script in a web page, I would like to see that certain parts of the app are executed. Plus I would like to see what the values are at that point.

I started off with alert(), but that moved the scope away from my stuff and so that didn't work.

Next, I tried to assign strings to "status" and "defaultStatus", those didn't work either. Perhaps I'm using them wrong?

Any suggestions on how I might be able to send myself clues on what is going on?
