Hello,

I only know HTML and Java and web development using servlets and JSP. Would anybody please tell me what is AJAX and what is its relation to the topics I mentioned above. I'll be very grateful for your response.

Thanks,

Sherif Mahmoud

Wikipedia does a good job of describing Ajax.

Ya I think the wikipedia article is a great place to start.

Essentially you will use Ajax with your existing HTML/Java/Servlet environment. The difference being you can use JavaScript and the XMLHTTP Request Object to request data from your servlet and update your page without a page refresh, thus improving the user experience of your app. This is a very basic overview. Chapter 1 of "Enterprise Ajax" should give you a good overview of how Ajax would work and what the benefits are.
