Summary This position is responsible for leading the efforts to deliver successful internet Java-based database applications development and support projects including, donor centers, contract labs, cord bank and blood repositories. This position has three major areas of responsibility. The first includes management responsibility for project leadership on all enterprise Java-based applications, overseeing and reviewing application development. The second includes technical leadership in architecting all application frameworks and data designs, providing system life cycle skills, development of new enterprise Java-based, maintenance and support of critical applications, and defining the direction of future application architecture. The last includes evaluation of new directions in software architectures and development technologies, implementation of new programming methodologies and compliance with internet standards.
Minimum Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or Business with an emphasis in Management Information Systems. On evaluation, six years work experience in addition to the minimum may be substituted for the degree.
Minimum Experience Eight years technical work experience in a software development environment which included five years experience performing software development on proprietary software applications. Experience with
Java,
J2EE, HTML, XML, and Sybase is required. Knowledge of software development and
testing methodologies along with experience in regulatory oversight is required. Experience with ASP.Net, VB.net, SQL server, C and UNIX a plus.
Key Knowledge Knowledge of application framework architecture, application servers, application security, distributed application security, database environment, data-driven application methodologies.
Expert knowledge in the iterative approach to software development and UML (Unified Modeling Language); development life cycle including testing processes and methods; object-oriented programming fundamentals; relational database design; general software development methodologies and practices; data structures; compilation and debugging tools. Advanced knowledge of networks (Novell, NT); operating systems (UNIX, Windows NT, 2000 and XP); current and emerging Internet technologies; experience with application servers.
Fundamental project management experience and full technical knowledge of all phases of project development or in the modification efforts of new or existing software is required.
Key Skills Expert technical skills in ASP.NET, VB.NET, Java Script, HTML, XML, MS SQL Server and other PC databases, along with exposure to enterprise level relational database management systems, database design, SQL language, and Object Oriented Framework design.
