Are JavaFX, Flex, Ajax all piers when it comes to RIA scripting/tools? Also, have you heard of Adobe AIR, could we build FX apps on top of AIR?

They are all RIA technologies, but I'd consider the closest peer to JavaFX to be Flex.

The answer to your second question (FX on AIR) would be no.

FX, as I understand it, would basically run on any Java VM. AIR is basically a Flash/Actionscript VM.
