Workforce Software is seeking several Senior
Java Developers to work on a commercial, off-the-shelf software system for large enterprises. Our web-based time and attendance software is developed using the most advanced browser and application server technologies, making for an exciting development environment. Work is done in multiple environments (Linux, Solaris, and Windows) and on multiple DBMS systems (Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2). Significant on-going investment in R&D keeps the product at the leading edge of time and attendance applications. Our development environment and product functionality expose our developers to a variety of tasks not found in other jobs. Some interesting challenges our developers face everyday include:
�Supporting multiple platforms where our customers run our application. Our development team is constantly exposed to and works on a variety of web browsers, application servers (
Tomcat, WebSphere, etc.), operating systems (Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, and HP/UX), and database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2).
�Creating applications that are highly configurable. For example our application supports user defined screens, user-defined calculations, and has built-in scripting to support multiple interface points.
�Building and tuning high performance systems that support thousands of concurrent users and millions of transactions per week.

Workforce Software has two locations. Our headquarters is located in Livonia, MI and a 2nd development center in Lake Tahoe, NV.
Mandatory Skills:
* Several years of overall experience in developing large-scale applications
* Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role designing and architecting systems
* Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience directly in Java programming
* Familiar with DBMS systems and SQL.
* Knowledge of application servers such as WebSphere,
servlets, Enterprise Java Beans (
EJB),
JSP, and HTML/DHTML.
* Strong fundamentals of computer science, including knowledge of advanced data structures, algorithms, and multi-threading.
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills
* Four-year or advanced degree in a technical field
Desired Skills:
* Knowledge of Tomcat application server
* Background with C++ programming
* Experience developing lexers, parsers and compilers
* Knowledge of
Struts and/or Velocity Apache projects
* Experience in both Windows and Unix environments deploying Java based systems
* Experience in designing for and
testing under large data volumes and stress conditions
Job Functions:
* A significant amount of architectural design work
* Hands on development, testing, and deploying of the software
* Leading teams building both front end and back ends of a very large, enterprise-class commercial software system
