Selecting a value from parent jsps dropdown

Hi,

There is a parent jsp, in my application. This Jsp has a simple drop down with a "go" button next to it. To basically send the request to the server using the value from the dropdown.
I have a situation here, where I need to call this functionality from the child window that appears from this(the parent) page.
Any ideas on how I could do this.
There is no way I can call the script on my child page ( like I dont think I can use window.opener.methodname). I have the liberty of hardcoding the selected dropdown value, as that is a constant.The script that functions on the call of "go" is generic however, for the various funtionalities.
Any ideas on how I could do this.
