Looking for a strong Lead Java developer with Spring and Hibernate experience. This developer will be in a leadership role for a new startup. We offer full telecommuting and a chance to shape the direction of our new product.

The candidate must be a great communicator and must be very strict about meeting deadlines.

Thats funny!..
To my knowledge, there is no proven methodology to do that.If you are very strict on deadlines and contracts, then your developers will not be happy and the product will not be in good shape and the customer will not be happy either.
Better chose "Agile-SCRUM" or suffer later. :-)

You're discounting the possibility that schedules are reasonably planned, and allow time for changes and fixes. Just because there is a deadline does not imply that it's a tight one.
