HERE�S WHAT WE NEED� An Application Architect.
The Application Architect is responsible for providing architectural leadership in the implementation of insurance solutions. The application architect is key in providing technical leadership throughout the lifecycle of major long-term projects.
Act as a visionary to proactively assist in defining the direction of projects
Establish the overall architectural view, define major system interfaces and identify existing architecture weaknesses and opportunities for process reengineering and cost benefit analysis
Analyze and develop solutions for functional and performance issues
Provide overview of estimation process for effort required for team deliverables
Provide leadership in solution designs; fully document designs in architecture and high-level design documents
Conduct technical risk assessment through using experience, analysis, prototyping and research; recommend mitigation strategies
Ensure architectural consistency and coherence between technical and business processes using systems analysis and design, system modeling, performance modeling, integration planning and the correct selection of technology and components
Conduct configuration and code reviews with internal and vendor-supplied project resources
Create design documentation for technical interfaces or complex implementations
Work closely with the Project Manager to assess and manage risk, to maintain proper resource levels and to identify and escalate issues
HERE�S WHAT WE�RE AFTER�
8+ years of software industry experience, 5+ years in solutions application design
Experience with
Java,
J2EE, Websphere/WebLogic, networking and firewalls
Experience with AIX, Unix or Linux; familiarity with Oracle or DB2
Strong background in insurance applications, experience with Property and Casualty preferred
Proven experience in delivering exceptional customer service
College degree or equivalent work experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent presentation skills
Strong understanding of application architecture and design principles
Good time management skills with a proven history of meeting deadlines
Solid understanding of web-based application architectures
Able to design software systems at a conceptual level as well as at a detailed level
