how to limit number of characters in the text box

Dear Sir,
I have a text box where in i have to enter the name,address etc.I have to limit the number of characters in each of the text box to say 30.How do i do it.

I have set the size to 30 but it is taking more than that

Sir this time I have posted my request twice.Somebody must have moved it from the jsp to the other section.Its not me and I am sorry for the one before this.I did not know in which section to put the Faq .I wont do it next time.
