The books go to Sarada Bhasker and Bill Pearce.
I wandered through all of the posts this morning copying all valid names to a list. I also noted which were people asking and which were people answering.
There were a few names I saw over and over again. Bill's was by far the most common - so it's no suprise that he is one of the winners. And it isn't as if he just plastered messages all over to get more entries, his messages were always helpful. Even if answered the same questions a few times.
While I'm moving the names into the text file I was thinking that it would be a bummer if somebody like bill didn't win a book. So I thought I would offer the folks that brought a lot of substance to the forum some JavaRanch loot (tote bag, mug, pen and "debugging tool"). These heavy contributers are Bill Pearce, Frank Carver, Mirko Froehlich and Carl Trusiak.
All of the winners have been notified by e-mail.
Here is the program that told me which line was the winner:
Thanks everybody! So, should we do this again with a different forum?
