where can I find basic information on xml what's it about I have know idea what it stands for???

XML stands for Extensible MarkUp Language. One good reference for it is
www.xml.com

You could also check out
www.w3schools.com
where you will find a basic XML-tutorial.
You'll will find other related tutorials there
as well, like XSL, HTML, JavaScript, ...
The site covers just about everything to do
with web-publications.
