Can you tell us on what basis you select the week's winners.
I was quite surprised to see the names of the winner.
I tried to do a search on the number of post in the last 5 days and found the following results.
Winner Names ...... Number of posts

parmeet,
Are you complaining that you didn't win? I have seen your multiple posts this past week, in fact I have responded to one of them. I hope that you gained some knowledge in XML from your increased participation.
It would be nice to win a book, but I am thankful that this forum is available to us. Winning a book would be a bonus, but I think the help that I have recieved from JavaRanch has been more valuable. Many times I learn more when I try to answer others questions.
Let's congratulate the winners and not envy their good fortune! Better luck to you next time.

Tony,
I am not at all jealous. Infact I myself have learnt a lot about XML in the last few days. I was just wondering about the way these people select the winners. Because I personally wished that there were some deserving guys like like Mapraputa, Madhav, Ajith who should have won the book. They were really helping and gave us some good answers.
Moreover life is too big and a book shouldn't be a matter for jealousy.
Big congratulations for all the winners !!!

The book giveaway page explicitly says that the winners are selected at random - not on merit. (That is why it also says that a large number of posts increases your chances - not quality posts.)

The selection program is also only sopposed to enter thos whose post was in the dates of the promotion. Camereon's last post was before the promotion.... Humm need to look at why that happened.

Big congratulations to all the winners.
Parmeet - thank you for your kind words. JavaRanch is my second home. I like it when more people come here and participate in the discussions. Being associated with such a popular technology community is far more rewarding than winning a book.

Camereon's last post was before the promotion.... Humm need to look at why that happened.

If I were to say something on this, I would let
Camereon (and all others selected) still have the book.
The winners have been selected and the word should be
honored. If it makes some people sore (not pointing
fingers) then we (at javaranch) should personally
apologise to them, but shouldn't deny the winners selected.
My $0.02...

When I first started using JavaRanch, I would post my butt off trying to win a book and nothing came of it.
Now I love this place and I would be here even if there was no book giveaway.
I'm just waiting for the book contest in Meaningless Drivel.
