Position Location: New York, NY

The Technical Architect will develop leading edge applications in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Working closely with business partners to determine functional requirements, the Technical Architect will create high-level technical specifications, and work with the IT management staff. This person will be a key player within a close-knit and highly focused team that drives company growth through Zagat.com, data/web partnerships, and technical ownership of Zagat's content management system. The handful of domains include application architecture, development architecture, and information architecture. This position reports to the Vice President of Technology.

Specific responsibilities include:
-Guide business analysts/UI designers around potential technology and/or limitations
-Enable tighter business/IT alignment, better-quality decisions, and the successful implementation of an enterprise architecture
-Assist in business strategy and process engineering
-Evaluate and recommend design and implementation options and trade-offs
-Evaluate and implement third party solutions and tools, as needed
-Define and develop POC (Proof of Concept) for new technologies and implementations

Job requirements include:
-5+ years prior experience as a programmer, preferably in .NET
-3+ years prior technical architecture experience preferably on consumer-focused websites
-Data architecture experience with Relational Database Management systems
-Strong analytical and technical ability, high tolerance for ambiguity, capable of thought leadership and strategic thinking
-Excellent written and verbal communication
-Solid organizational and time-management skills
-Delivers practical results - quantifies return on investment
-Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and realistically

Skill preferences include:
-Development architecture experience in Microsoft platform, preferred
-Experience with content management systems, preferred
-Experience with the following tools and technologies, preferred:
-VB.NET
-Microsoft SQL server
-Endeca
-ER studio
-XML
-Telligent Community Server

Sample projects include:
-Design and develop POC for SaaS (Software as a Service) capability for data partners
-Design and develop web services POC (Proof of Concept) architecture for sensitive/secure data
-Collaborate and review application architecture for web site
-Plan development iterations and develop technical designs
-Perform assessment of various 3rd party components and make recommendations
-Identify and suggest opportunities to improve efficiencies in IT development process and enterprise-wide business processes
-Assist with infrastructure and capacity planning for optimal use of existing hardware
-Document existing back-end processes for future information architecture redesign thumb
