Hi

I know that Dom is for parsing purpose. I would like to know how you are associating XML with AJAX.

Thanks in advance

"Ajax" used to stand for "Asynchronous JavaScript and XML", i.e. JavaScript manipulating XML messages. Nowadays, it is associated with pretty much anything that we used to call DHTML, whether or not it has anything to do with XML.

Hello

Ajax is an approach that allows you to load XML and other content from the server using the XmlHttpRequest object in JavaScript. The idea is that you can then use DOM methods, XSLT stylesheets and DHTML to display the contents from the file.

Ajax does encompass DHTML but provides extra functionality. The idea is that Ajax applications can load external content, often XML, without the need to refresh the entire interface in the web browser.

Cheers

As mentioned about AJAX is Asynchronous Javascript and XML.

The basic technique used in AJAX is to get a response from the server asynchronously without loading a new page( as it is done traditionally).

The response from the server is in XML format(can be plain text as well).

The response has to be parsed using javascript on the client side.

Thats the link between XML and AJAX.

Hope that helps.
