Hello guys

I am using schema to validate my xml file but I am getting this exception:

Probably your XML source does not start with the expected <?xml tag - even a single space or extra new line character will cause this exception. This may not be obvious when listing the file.

How was the file created?

hello there,

The file was orginally by String variable containing all the xml contenets then using FileoutStream class I converted the file into XML. When I open the file in browser it does not show me any junk or unwanted characters it opens normally in IE.

thanks

Those entries in the stack trace make me suspect that the error occurs when the parser is trying to load and parse your schema. In that case the error message would be telling you about a problem with your schema, not with the document you are trying to validate.

Thats what I was trying to warn you about. A browser display may well reformat the text so that it looks fine - think about all the junk in typical HTML that the browser never shows. Extra leading spaces or control characters may be dropped.

A programmer's editor with a hex display mode is an invaluable tool for chasing down file content problems like the dreaded MS Word "smart" punctuation. I use Ultra-Edit-32 all the time but Im sure there are free editors out there.
