Does anyone know why there's no maintenance process in RUP (according to software development life cycle, maintenance should be one of the phases), if it's one of the weakness of RUP?

I think its because maintenance can be seen as consisting of the 4 phases RUP identifies - inception, elaboration, construction, and transition, but this is just a guess.
BTW, please refer to the JavaRanch naming policy and consider re-registering.
