Hi -

I'm reading the new edition of Craig Larman's "Applying UML and Patterns", and it strikes me that the focus of his book (how to accomplish OO analysis and design in the context of an iterative "process") nicely complements the focus of your book (practical advice for "getting the job done" - and done well - more or less regardless of the actual "process" used).

I was wondering if you could recommend any books that you have found particularly valuable to the organizations you've worked with?

Thank you in advance .. PSM

I'm a practioner not an author, yet, but you absolutely MUST check out Craig Larman's Agile & Iterative Development A Manager's Perspective. It's as good as the reviews on Amazon suggest. Bruce Ekel's Stinking in Java is also good. I've ordered Ship It! and should be here in a couple of days. I'll put my thoughts in pixel form after reading it. Look for Richard O'Shay, however, as my name apparently has half the community in stitches

Hmmm - Interesting.

Two (unexpected?) titles on your list that I *strongly* agree with are:

- Knuth: "The Art of Computer Programming"
Donald Knuth is to "programming books" what J.S. Bach is to "music" (IMHO)

- Dale Carnegie: "How to Win Friends and Influence People"
Definitely of benefit to every working professional ... *especially* those who don't think they need it ;-)

Thank you for the reply!
