A good start for understanding Agile Software Development would be http://www.agilemanifesto.org/ - inclusively linked content. Note, though, that "agile" has become quite a buzzword, and that not everyone nowadays is using it in this "original" sense.

Some information on certification can be found at http://www.agilealliance.org/show/1796

I think that the only certification you could find concerns the Scrum approach. You will find more information on http://www.scrumalliance.org/

Well, there is also a DSDM certification. Scrum is much more wide spread, though, and I've heard people say that DSDM isn't exactly the most Agile approach you could use. Don't know enough about it to comment, though.

You might find The Agile SDLC to be of use as addresses the entire software development lifecycle instead of just construction.
