Thinking I was being clever I bought a set of cables which claimed I didn't need a seperate DVD player for my TV, I could just use these cable to plug my PC into my TV.
Now the audio part is easy, my laptop has the correct port for that. But I don't have the right card in my laptop.
So ... apparently I need a TV-Out Card, which has a RCA-Type socket. The thing is I really don't want any more devices installed internally on my laptop, does anyone know of an external module I can use??

Well, you can get them, but in all honest you'd be hard pushed to find a half-decent one for any less than the price of a DVD player. I recently bought a perfectly servicable multi-region, VCD, SVCD, MP3, CD-R-compatible DVD player for 99 from ALDI. Typical genlocks and external TV encoders start at a couple of hundred pounds.
I don't know how much this cable set cost you, but I'd suggest returning it or selling it on and shopping for a decent, low-cost DVD player. Sorry .
