This will be enforced by Microsoft's "product activation" system, which requires you to let Microsoft create and store a profile of every computer on which you install windows XP. If you dont allow them to do this, your copy of windows will stop working after 30 days. It might also stop working any time you make significant changes to your PC's hardware configuration.. In addition, if you try to install your copy of XP on another machine, you will be asked to activate again-and since it probably wont be allowed, youll need to purchase an additional copy. Finally, if your PC malfunctions and you have to reinstall XP, you'll need to contact Microsoft and explain the situation.
