Hello,
A friend used my account to sign in to MSN Messenger (not Windows Messenger) to check his email. I'm not sure if he actually ever "signed out" of MSN, but since that time, my user account shows whether my friend has new email messages or not.

The link says "mikec has 3 new messages" but if I hover over the link, it shows my friend's email address.

I've tried going to the control panel and re-setting my XP User Account to synchronize with my .NET Passport. (In fact it already *had* my account in there).

Anyone run across this problem on WinXP Pro (pre SP1)

Have not heard of this one but you could try deleting the cached passwords by going to start, control panel, user accounts, Advanced tab, manage passwords. Remove your cached logon info and have another go.
