Hi,
I am having a weird problem for the past few days. When I am working on my computer, All of a sudden, the keboard just decides to stop working. I would have to shutdown the computer, even switch off the power switch and then turn on everything again to make the keyboard work .
Have any of you faced a similar problem and if so can you please share with me what is the solution for this.
Thanks in advance,
Raji.

Can someone advise me on this please!! It is really annoying to have the computer shutdown, and restart all over again a number of times per day.
Thanks,
Raji.

I would say, why dont try a different keyboard for a couple of days? If it happens even with the new KB, try the KB connector at the end of the Motherboard, etc etc.

Silly question, but have you tried just unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back in? I had a similar problem with my office workstation (a generic box) at my last job, and that usually got the keyboard recognized again.

Raji,
of course amongst 50000 members we had all kind of problems. But, as for me, your description is very unclear. I would suggest to describe more exactly your problems.
Do you mean that "magic button" (reboot) and everything make the keyboard operable again?

I have the same stupid problem! I was thinking if it might be a virus of some sort? Quirky, the danm keyboard would just stop responding, I push the space bar and it's like it's hitting CTR-F or something....
I've tried several different keyboards but same problem.

I'm about to launch this damn keyboard off my balcony... HELP!!!

Hey Rob...

Welcome to Javaranch. Hope you enjoy Ranching around.

That would be disgusting if the keyboard stops working.....

Well...did u try dusting ur keyboard for a while? it might sound trivial, but can lead to miscontact of switches or might prevent it from getting connected.

Are the ports working fine? Cables firmly connected?

If that's all fine, check the Devices of you system for your keyboard to be listed in it...If that's fin, then need to try with some other keyboard...perhaps

Cheers,
Swamy

Has anyone found out was causes this problem??

I have seen this on 3 different PC's and have heard from several friends that have seen it too. It's real random and the keyboard just stops typing. The only thing I've found that fixes it, as others point out, is a reboot. <Cntl><alt><del> doesn't work, but the mouse still functions normally.

It doesn't happen a lot for me but often enough to be a pest.
