As far as actually written qualifications I dont think there are any that have been publicly posted. There my be some in the moderators only forum (posted right under the plans for how to take over the world).
From what I understand there is no specific way to become a moderator. If the bartenders and sherrifs at the ranch see a need for a new bartender they will discusss it amongst themselves in their forum to decide on a best choice then offer that person a position.
If becoming a bartender is your goal some things that I would suggest would be:
be a regular here at the ranch, you dont have to be here constantly all day but on a regular basis.
post to the forums, you dont have to answer everyones questions but try to help out where you can and know enough to know what you dont know.
As far as other tips, I'll leave that up to one of the bartenders who'll have a better idea than I do. I think also that there would be soe sort of duration thing involved to. I've only been here for about 6 months or so and already noticed that there are alot of people that you'll see post fairly often then dissappear after they get their cert. - so you may have to wait a while anyway before even being considered.

When the need for a new bartender arises we generally look at people who have been active lately, have over 100 posts and have proven to be friendly and helpful.
If someone is particularly helpful in a forum the moderator of that forum may just out of the blue say something like "Hey Joe Bloggs seems like the kind of guy we need to be a bartender, here's some examples of his posts ...." and we'll discuss and if a concensus is reached Joe Bloggs would be invited to be a Batender.
Can you believe people have actually turned DOWN the invitation!

Plus you have to watch your tone. There was one guy who was a real regular and offered alot, that I thought about submitting. But sometimes he would get REAL snippy at folks - so I changed my mind.

One thing more. You need to follow the naming policy strictly. For example I had to change my name from rahul_mkar to Rahul Mahindrakar to be a moderator.

Two big things... a lot helpful posts and be around awhile. Prasad, you have been here since May but only have 16 posts. If you are interested in being a moderator then you should take an active roll in a couple of forums and try to help out where you can. Eventually (and it usually doesn't take too long) a bartender or sheriff will notice you and recommend your promotion.

The only written qualification is that you must be good looking enough to grace this page:

Hi ranchers,
Pleasure is something that catches us here....i remember how happy i was when i found myself as "ranch hand" rather than a "green horn" all on a sudden one day! Visiting regularly here makes a feel that u r in a online community who share knowledges....some useful knowledge. There r some here also almost contributing as a moderator though not one....
People think in different ways but it was particulary something special to know from Angela's post on this thread that....

Can you believe people have actually turned DOWN the invitation!
