Have you tried "Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components > Internet Explorer"? I'm not sure whether your version of Windows has it, but it's there in my Windows XP.

Mitchell, you may remember that whole Microsoft/DOJ/antitrust/integrated browser monopoly lawsuit thing, when Bill Gates got on the witness stand and said it would be impossible to remove Internet Explorer from Windows, until an expert witness showed how it was indeed possible, and the DOJ told MS that they had to build the ability to remove IE into Windows. So older versions of Windows don't have this ability, and recent ones do.

Type www.windowsupdate.com in your IE address bar. One of the first updates they'll offer is to upgrade your IE...

no need to remove older IE in order to upgrade to IE6, just run the installer and it will do the work for you (or indeed use WindowsUpdate for Windows 98 and later).
