Hi,
Besides java programing, i just started web designing. I did website for few clients. I have a following question:
Is there any way i can setup java or other server for hosting purpose of those website? If yes, is it free? If yes, where can i get those servers?

are you talking about hosting them on your machine? if so, i would recommend getting Apache web server and Tomcat(for running java). they are free and run on unix or windows. i did that for quite a while on my windows 98 machine. you have to do a little configuring, but i managed to figure it out. just type apache(tomcat) into google to find the web sites. if you are looking for hosting, try typing in "free web hosting"

P.S. be sure you have a firewall if you host on your machine. Zone Alarm is pretty good and it's free

If i setup tomcat on my computer, will i be able to host multiple websites? There shouldn't be any proxy problem right?

first of all, Tomcat is a plug-in. you still need a http server like Apache. both products use configuration files(XML i believe)that you will have to edit.as for hosting multiple sites, i believe you can configure Apache to do that, but im not certain. it has been a very long time since i set it up, and i only had one domain name. the instruction you get with Apache and Tomcat are pretty good.we have a forum on Apache and Tomcat now if you need help https://coderanch.com/forums/f-56/Tomcat

You can run Tomcat standalone just fine, but its true potential is indeed only apparent when running it as an Apache plugin.
As it is Apache is several orders of magnitude faster serving static content so you want your machine set up to have Apache serve everything except servlets and JSPs and pass those to Tomcat.

The installation instructions for Apache and Tomcat should also tell you about how to set up virtual hosts.
