I see virtual machines like I see computer emulators. If a virus infects the emulator it does not infect the whole system. If for example I was using an Amiga emulator to access the internet and a firewall blocks all application from accessing the internet, would it be possible for the a virus to break through the Amiga emulated environment to the host operating system assuming of course that the virus is designed specifically to do this.

Wouldnt it be as daft as computer virus breaking through the confines of the computer hardware itself?
