I have a perl/CGI application that tries to use Win32: LE, a module that allows communicating with Excel for one. Trying the module out at the DOS prompt gets me what I want. Calling the module from my CGI app in the browser doesn't. I know this is partly a perl issue but does anyone know if and/or how I allow web users to fire up Excel? I'm not sure if this is the problem or not but was willing to give it a try out and see if that is where the problem lies. Thanks in advance.

Very likely an IIS security feature that doesn't allow CGI tasks to do low-level things like that.
