PC display problem

Last nite I suddenly found my PC screen looks bizzare. Not only the font and icons look smaller, but they are very blur. I clicked "control panel"-->"display" and reduce the setting to 1024 by 768. Then the font looks bigger, but all the icons and texts are still very very blur. They used to be very sharp. Plus, the ratio of length to height isn't as normal as it used to be.

My PC is DELL Pentinum IV bought in late 2004. i didn't buy any extended waranty. Could this problem caused by video card problem ?

I think there is some problem with the monitor screen refresh rate, try to change you screen refresh rate.

thanks. could you give some details on how to do that and what should I change to ?
