Hi
Thank you for reading my post.
What are characteristics of a reliable system?

for example it should be transaction, secure....?
what standards, frameworks would involve in a system based on web services and required to be reliable?

Thanks

Hi Raminaa,

reliabilty is one of several non-functional (or service-level or quality-of-service) requirements an Architect must take into account when architecturing a new application.

Here is what Mark Cade's SCEA Study Guide says about it:

from SCEA for J2EE Technology Study Guide p. 8
Reliability ensures the integrity and consistency of the application and all its transactions. As the load increases on your system, your system must continue to process requests and handle transactions as accurately as it did before the load increased. Reliability can have a negative impact on scalability. If the system cannot maintain the reliability as the load increases, then the system is really not scalable. So, for a system to truly scale it must be reliable.

Darya
