Does anybody use a VM on their desktop or laptop machine? I'm thinking I might like a clean Windows XP image that I can boot from for day-to-day use. If it gets spyware and viruses I just shut it down and restart it from the image. I believe I read that Bruce Schneier and the serious security crowd run this way and don't even bother with virus scanners.

I use VMware on my laptop because I need to run some programs that is only available with Linux, while everything else is Windows.

Be careful with running Windows in a VM. I believe you may need a license to do so -- as it is a different copy than what booted your computer.
