I have a graphic image which I want to know the RGB value of a particular pixel. I opened it with WindowsXP's MS Paint. However, the status bar doesnt show the RGB of the pixel my mouse is pointing at. I tried the dropper tool (Color Picker tool). However, it doesn't show me the RGB value I picked. Could anyone suggest a simple way get check the RGB of any selected pixel. Many thanks.

You have to open the file with a java program you have written yourself.

Java has good libraries for working with images and graphics, usually the idea starts with a two dimesional array filled with color values.

What is the format of the image ?

If the image can be opened in a browser, then the ColorZilla Firefox extension can do this.

If not, you can use the image processing application ImageJ; it can open many file formats.
