I'd always thought that when you created a signed applet with JCA 1.2 that the applet security policy file went into the applet's JAR and was part of the signed jar. But all the docs I've seen online seem to indicate that to use a signed jar with a policy file, you need to install jar's policies separately and manually into your user (or system) java policy file - at least with the 1.3 Java Plug-In.
Could someone please confirm or deny that? And, if a policy file can be brought in as part of the JAR, where in the jar would it be stored?
