I passed SCJP2 this morning with 100% score.
The questions are much easier than I thought, no tricky questions at all, all straightforward, clearly-stated.
I met quite a few questions with about 20-35 lines of code, but all are easier to answer.
I prepared the test for about 3-4 weeks, read the RHE books, then did most of the mock exams found in Maha's homepage(My many thanks to Maha).
This exam is really not hard to pass.

First of all congradulations.
I would kill for a score like that.
Literaly.
But you didn't realy give us any tips.
How can it be that All you read was the RHE.
I read the RHE. And have found tons of info on the internet that I didn't find in RHE.
You must have had lots of java experience and knowledge before you started studying for the certification.
Did you already have more that a years worth of experience?
But anyway I am realy glad to hear that its possible to do that well with just 4 weeks of studying. Cause thats exactly what I'm doing. The only difference might be that I have no prior java experience.
good job
I love you man
just kidding

Yes, I did have Java programming experience before. Say, I started learning Java in 1998. However, Java is not my primary language for my job, C/C++ is. I write Java programs for personal interest. I haven't written any Java program developed to Production servers.
RHE will not cover everything, but I think its topic is enough to cover the exam objectives. What really helped me a lot is the mock exams.
I read RHE book carefully once, then I took as many mock exams as I can. There are about 40 exam links from Maha's homepage, I took about 35+.
My tip to take the mock exams is to mark the ones I didn't make, then try to fully understand the correct answers. The best thing to do is to RUN THE CODE ON YOUR COMPUTER. The Java compiler will give you a lot of information.
I have copied, pasted and run the code from more than 200 mock
exam questions, this process helped me a lot!!!
There are several very good materials I think:
1. http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Orchard/9362/java/javacert/Desboro.htm ( Covers important concepts like: Private or static methods are statically bound; No arithmetic promotion for ++,--,+=,etc; ...)
2. http://www.absolutejava.com/articles/java-tidbits.html
(Remember to take the test on Tidbit 7)
3. http://www.angelfire.com/or/abhilash/Main.html
(You should get the answer explanation from the author, and try to understand them. This test is tougher than real test, but it definitely teaches a lot of JLS concepts.)
4. Mock exam 24th on Maha's page. There are several error answers, but good questions and explanations. Try to run some of the codes by yourself.
5. Marcus Green's exams. ( I did them twice, the second time (done 3 days before real test)I finished >95% for each of them, but I forgot what were the first time scores.)
I have also edited several text files myself which covers concepts or mock exam questions that I thought need second thoughts, if any of you are interested in getting them, please give me your email address, and I can send them to you. I would be happy to be able to help you guys a little bit.
thanks,
ye

Congratulations ye zhang!!! Really nice achievement.
We don't hear about 100% scores too often, it still remains the coveted rank of countable number of people... you are one of them!!
I hate to rain the parade, but be forewarned, you will get flooded with requests for your notes. Please explore the possibility of posting them somewhere on the web so that others can access them easily. I really appreciate your gesture but I'm afraid you may not be able to control the wildfire!!

I really got "shocked" to see so many requests came in. I thought my personal notes will not occur that much interests.
I have sent my notes to people showed interest. For those of you are interested and haven't got them, please DO NOT post your requests to this thread, just send me email: yzhang@telocity.net, I really appreciate it.
Ajith and shailesh, sorry for the flooding, I didn't expect like that. Regarding your suggestion to post them somewhere, I need re-organize my note quite a lot since they are just my casual write-downs.
Thanks.
Best regards,
ye
