I finally got around to getting certified (have been coding java since '96). To share my experience, I found that very careful review and answer elimination during the exam was quite useful. I did a lot of mock exams but didn't really study a text book enough. I should have reversed this philosophy, I think, but I was relying on my programming experience more that I should have. Unless you are very judicious with understanding the 'why' of all the answers in the mock exams, I feel that really studying a good certification book is probably the most efficient path to certification (along with writing code examples, when in doubt. This helps you retain the information more thoroughly). Well, I guess it's the developers exam now...
Thanks all!
Sean

Congratulations Sean!
I was going to take the same route, but decided against it. I'm glad you shared your experience with us. Getting a certification book can make a big difference. At least it makes me feel more warm and fuzzy on some of the language fundamentals.
