Took the test this morning and failed by ONE QUESTION. Aaargh! But they haven't seen the last of me yet... I shall return!
To be honest, it was not a complete surprise. I did not do too brilliant when I tried the mock exams either. The exam was not worse than I expected. The questions are very clear, very well worded. But if you don't know, you don't know.
I read somewhere, that you get to sit in your own cubicle while taking the test, but this was definitely not the case where I was (I live in Holland). I took the test in a big room with a group of other people, none of whom came in or left at the same time. VERY annoying.
Well anyway, best of luck to everyone preparing for the exam (including myself).
Regards, Iris

Sorry about your exam. At least, it sounds as though you haven't got too much work to do to pass your exam next time. I took my exam in Britain and I was in a very small room - which could seat about 10 candidates. The desks were blocked in, but very close and all the candidates were led in one by one, and then the staff had a little chat with them ("Do you need anything? Are you ready to start? You have to accept the conditions. . ."). I found it very distracting - I was the first one in, probably because I was visibly the most nervous! Thanks for posting - when I was preparing, it was difficult to remember that not everyone passed first time - especially reading this forum with page after page of fantastic scores. Best of luck for your next go!

hey rosie, i took the exam a few weeks ago and got the same score, missed by 1 question. so i am now re-studying everything with emphasis on actually coding and running the codes as i feel i know the principles as best as i can. i plan to retake the test in one month. good luck! phoebe

Thanks, everyone. Peter, the link was quite usefull
I know I shouldn't complain. In fact, most people I know thought I did pretty good, considering that I had no programming experience whatsoever when I started studying for this exam. I will just have to work hard for three or four more weeks, and try again.
It's just that...it would have been nice to wake up this morning and think: what was that nice thing that happened yesterday? O yeah, I became an SCJP!
O well...

Thanks Kaffo,
I am studying hard again and I do believe I'm on the right track. Like Phoebe, I am putting more emphasis on coding now and it really seems to work.

Hello Marcus,
I am already checking out your site, all the time. I practically know your tutorial by heart! I think it's a great site. Unfortunately I have already "used up" your mock exams, but I go to the discussion forum a lot, though I have another name there. No reason to have a lot of aliases, I'm just very immature that way...
It sure is heartening to hear that even YOU failed the first time. At least I'm in good company!
