Zukof,
You should check out maha anna's recommendation. It's the best one I've found. http://www.javaranch.com/maha/Resources/resources.html
Please note:
The Java Ranch has thousands of visitors every week, many with surprisingly similar names. To avoid confusion we have a naming convention, described at http://www.javaranch.com/name.jsp .
We require names to have at least two words, separated by a space, and strongly recommend that you use your full real name.

Hello Zukof!
Last week I passed the SCJP and the book I used for preparation was The Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide by Robert, Heller and Ernest (ISBN:0782128254). The reason for why I chose to use this book is that it goes strait to the point with the information needed to complete the exam, also the authors have been involved with developing the real exam so they seem to know alot about it! I have been programming Java for about 8 months so I had some prior experience from Java, so if you are new to Java you would probably want to first read some book that gives you the basics (I would strongly recommend Core Java, Volume 1 - Fundamentals, ISBN: 0130894680) you need to fully understand The Complete Java 2 Certification Guide.
Another important factor for me was reading what other people had problems with in forums like this on (Java ranch) or at Marcus Greens site (http://www.jchq.net/).
Good Luck and May the Force Be With You!
Regards
Dominic
